We put out bird feeders on our balcony. I’m practicing taking pictures with the telephoto lens on my new Canon DSLR camera.

Brookgreen Gardens

From the outset, Brookgreen has been committed to the collection of American figurative sculpture, particularly those pieces that could be displayed outdoors in garden settings. Its founders built this collection around Anna Hyatt Huntington‘s own work and that of her contemporaries. Eventually, the collection was extended back to the early nineteenth century and forward into the twenty-first century. Today this collection contains over 1,200 works by 350 artists.

These are some of my favorites.

Water can sometimes be an amazing force of nature. Here is a picture of the Reedy River after a hard rainfall. (Too bad I can’t also share the sound of the rushing water.)

Street

Today’s street picture is taken in front of the office building where I work. I’m fortunate to work in a quiet office park within two miles of my house. I took a picture from almost the same spot during a rare snowstorm last winter.
